The Nigerian Wedding Planning Checklist
Your wedding day deserves to be the best day of your life. Some brides even start painting their wedding fantasies from a young age. That’s admirable. Creating and following a plan is the first step to bringing that dream to fruition. It’s even more crucial if it’s a Nigerian wedding. You want your guests to have a good time.
Someone might have told you that hosting a wedding ceremony comes with immense stress and unplanned expenses. Good news! With proper planning, you can reduce the stress level, manage your budget, and make that day your best.
Like any project, the wedding plan starts with a good foundation and solid structure. Complete these at the beginning. They will help you make the right choices for a uniquely-you wedding.
Here are the 8 checklist to plan your dream wedding before you make your way to the altar.
- Create your wedding budget. The money will drive many decisions in the coming months. Do the budget first. And begin saving if you need to, you can download our free budget template here.
- Decide the people, place, and timeframe. Choosing who will be at your wedding is exciting. And early asks will give them plenty of time to prepare. Also, guest count affects your venue choice, so pick a general number. This will allow you to narrow the potential locations and settle on a date.
- Develop your wedding’s look and style. The location, decorations, flowers, and wedding party appearance? They all depend on your theme. Start researching and put together wedding looks that inspire you, bearing in mind your budget.
- Source for Wedding Vendors: The vendors you select will make or mar your wedding. Choose carefully when selecting your wedding vendors. It’s important to select vendors that can execute your preferred wedding perfectly. This process may take you up to 30 days — 12 months depending on the length of your wedding planning. Your options will be narrower for the 3-month plan but with a 12- month planning, you can spend more time sourcing the perfect items and you have more time to gather a lot of information before you make a decision.
- Announce your Wedding Date: Send out save the date and RSVP to help plan perfectly most especially if you are planning on a budget and if your event will be strictly by invite.
- Book Vendors: Having found vendors who you both are comfortable working together with, book them, once you’ve agreed with the cost and their terms and conditions. Ensure you ask them about all your concerns before you proceed to make a deposit. You may not be able to retrieve your deposit if you want to change your mind on your choice of vendors.
- Send out Invite: When sending out your invitations, ensure you address them properly. To reduce/eliminate plus one, you can add “This Card Admits” or “Strictly by Invite” at the lower part of the invite.
- Tie the Loose End & Get ready for the Big Day: At one month out, everything should be well-planned. All projects should be done. Everything takes shape the closer you get to the wedding day. Create time to organize meetings with all vendors, draw up a timeline for the D-day, and have your final fittings done. Get ready. And, of course, be wed!
Even after applying the whole thing, having a professional wedding planner to guide you through the process, to make the planning and the big day seamless, and make your events look more expensive than you spent, is the BEST choice for you.
